WHERE IS THE MONEY?
11-19-2011

This page is for general information.  It is not specific to members.

If you have knowledge on how people and businesses can get capitalized for their projects, give us a note.  People need money to help move their projects forward. This is what creates jobs.

Because of  non profit requirements, the Invention Works can not participate in the following concept.  We would like someone follow through on the Idea.
In my spare time I have  looked into the creation of a Local Investor Network. There are some people interested in developing one here.  If you have any ideas or input on creating one please let me know.  I think it is a great idea to invest locally. If you or someone you know might be interested in looking into helping local business concepts let me know.   I would like to know thier progress. stevekreider@invent-manufacture.com

Hi

That time is approaching again.  The invent-manufacture group is having another meeting.  We are now officially known as the “Invention Works”  I will try to start using the new name more often.  Hard to break the old habit.  We will still have invent-manufacture website. Anyone is welcome, you don’t have to be a member to participate.

I recently went to Port Townsend and attended meetings with team jefferson http://tech.jefferson.wsu.edu/ a part of the WSU Economic development Extension program in Jefferson County,  with the angel investment group, LION, http://www.l2020.org/index.php?page=investing-opportunities and Port Townsend’sL2020, http://www.l2020.org/

Kristi Laguzza Boosman  , and Juliet Rhodes,  Founders of http://www.mvcommunitypreparedness.org arranged the meetings.  A lot of good information was acquired. I would like to discuss some of the topics at our next meeting.  I think there are things happening that many of you  might like to participate in.

I will be adding information to our website soon.

One of the roadblocks to a person developing a product Idea is MONEY.  It takes a lot of time to find the money needed to get a product to market.

Most people hear a number of No's before they find the money.  Banks are just not lending to most start ups.  They are even shy about lending to existing small operations.

The good news is that there is some money out there.  It takes a lot of searching.  I received a loan from the regional NCW Business loan fund for my start up.  Their purpose is to help create businesses that will employ our neighbor.  They want to help create a vital economy in their geographic area.  You can search out a loan fund in your area.

I am getting involved in a small group of people that are attempting to create a investor network.  This idea is to connect businesses with people that want to invest in the local economy.  We hope to create a means to bring these 2 together.

You will need to create a good business plan to show anywhere you look to find money.  Start creating it now. There are programs in almost all counties that will help crate these business plans. S.C.O.R.E. is a great resource.  Here we have the economic alliance that has personnel that will assist creating a business.

There are business plan software programs available.  Many word processors, like wordperfect,  have a template.  Start basic. Add detail as time goes on.  They will want to see cost projections, and sales projections. They want to see marketing, who will buy, margins, materials, etc.

These plans don't need to be created in a day.  Start now, business plans are ment to change with time.  Get a basic plan started, it will get you thinking, and changing the plan as you go through it.  It will get you thinking of things and methods that you may not have considered.
